A regional conference that puts the spotlight in the hands of our trans and non-binary siblings and lets them choose the focus

Are You Ready! Transcendence is coming!

The first regional conference for gender-diverse people is happening in Saint Lucia. As ECADE continues to advocate for equality, human rights, and justice throughout the region, this collaboration with Butterfly Barbados and TransWave Jamaica  propels the movement to trans(cend) gender binaries, protect and uplift all of us.

Trans(cendence), a human right conference on elevating the rights, well-being and emancipation of gender diverse people in the Caribbean, will be hosted in Saint Lucia from May 17 – 19, 2023. A celebration of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT), Transcendence centres transgender and non-binary people in the Caribbean.

The Mr and Ms Queeribbean competition will see 7 queens and 5 kings from 8 countries, competing for the first ever Caribbean queer pageant!

Drag performers will represent Jamaica, Saint Kitts, Guyana, Suriname, Dominica, St. Croix, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Saint Lucia!  This gender-expansive show is trans and non-binary led. Strutting the stage will be Kings and Queens from the region showcasing their talent and expressing their truth.

Come cheer for trans liberation as we transcend gender binaries! Be on the progressive side of history!

The inaugural conference on human rights for transgender and non-binary people in the Caribbean, Transcendence ensures that the gender-diverse community is not only included but leads the direction of advocacy initiatives on behalf of the community. The Transcendence human rights conference and pageant, brings everyone to the table to strategise on the way forward in activism for transgender and gender-non-conforming people in the Caribbean.
